OVERVIEW

Join a group of like-minded women on this wander-ful weekend in the heart of the Lake District, Cumbria. This is your perfect opportunity to summit the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike at 978 metres, the centrepiece of the most rugged and awe-inspiring scenery in the Lake District.

There are many routes up Scafell Pike however we believe the Corridor Route from Seathwaite is one of the best offering a circular route of this stunning area. This route will see you cover approximately 15 kilometres in distance and gain a height of around 1,000 metres over a 6 – 7 hour period; it’s a great rugged exploration of the fells. Your route takes you on a journey through grassy farmlands to mist-shrouded ravines; expansive mountain vistas to remote reflective tarns (small mountain lakes), the views on the Scafell Pike Corridor Route change regularly until culminating in a boulder hopping scramble to the summit.

Standing on the summit of massive boulders, craggy flanks cut by giant ravines point towards other towering mountains is a great achievement. On a clear day, the view from the top is breathtaking towards the mountain-scapes of England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man. On a not-so-clear day, it’s an excursion to an otherworldly place; a high, wild, rocky and atmospheric escape.

Staying in the historic and picturesque village of Grasmere in a hostel, you’ll have time to wander the quaint streets and maybe sample some locally made gingerbread thanks to Victorian cook Sarah Nelson who invented Grasmere Gingerbread® in 1854. During the evenings enjoy mingling with your fellow AITW team of like-minded women over dinner and reflect and share tales from your mountain adventure. It’s a great weekend for the soul, to make new friends and experience the beautiful landsacpes of The Lake District.

Safety and well-being

Adventurous Ewe puts the safety and well-being of you, our leaders & crew and the communities we visit at the centre of all our operations, always. Your safety and well-being is our top priority.

The Scafell Pike weekend will require preparation as the adventure is designed to take you out of your every-day comfort zone and achieve something great. Rest assured we have a thorough Safety Management System, indepth risk assessments and risk management systems in place. Your safety and well-being is our top priority at all times.

Leaders

You will be accompanied by certified and local Adventurous Ewe Leader/s throughout your Scafell Pike weekend.

They’re a friendly bunch with a huge level of care and a great sense of humour. Rest assured they are fully experienced and remote first aid qualified. They will be ultimately responsible for the running of the itinerary and the safety of your group.

Leaders will carry safety equipment and first aid kits with them at all times. Please note, these kits are for emergencies only so please come prepared with your own personal first aid items.

Please note, the itinerary is there as a guide and may change due to unusual weather patterns, the strength of the group, and other unpredictable factors. We will do our very best to keep to the set itinerary; however we cannot be held responsible for any last minute changes that may occur. In all such circumstances, your Leader will have the final say.

Group size

We pride ourselves in small group adventures to minimise the impact on the environment, to maximise your safety & well-being and to make your experience more authentic.

The minimum group size for this trip to run is 8 people. The maximum group size is 16 people.

Our adventures are typically made up of a mix of solo travellers and small groups of two or three friends who simply love adventure, pushing themselves and meeting awesome like-minded people. Over 50% of our travellers travel solo, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

If you have a group of over 8 people, we would be more than happy to run a private weekend for you.

For any further info or to chat about running a bespoke weekend, we’d love to hear from you at info@adventurousewe.co.uk or call 01492 588 069.

Group management

The Scafell Pike Trek is a team event and not designed to be an individual competitive race. You will be taking as a group and with a dedicated Leader. We encourage team spirit and support of each other to ensure everyone has the best opportunity to complete the challenge and enjoy the journey along the way too. These events are a fantastic way to meet like-minded people and share an incredible adventure whilst being accompanied and supported by friendly and experienced Adventurous Ewe Leaders and Crew.

Trek grading

The Scafell Pike Trek is graded as ‘Moderate’ dependent on weather conditions. Preparation is key to help you get the most enjoyment and reward from this adventure. A good level of fitness, endurance and some gritty determination will help you reach the rocky summit.

Trekking: Whilst some of the route follows well-made rock-built paths, there are several sections on rough rocky ground and areas with loose or crumbly stones underfoot which can be slippery. Hiking boots are highly recommended given the uneven terrain and mountainous weather conditions. The trek should take approx. 6 – 7 hours to complete.

Training

A bepsoke training programme will be provided when you join this trip to help you with your preparations. We also have exclusive offers with our Training Partners and Communities – Her Spirit and Strength & Movement Coach, Peter Lant. For more info, please visit our Training & Preparation page.

The more you are prepared, the more you will enjoy the challenge.

Our motto is: Train hard, smile harder and enjoy the journey!
